The Da Vinci Code movie...

The movie has been out since the 19th and I still haven't watched it. I had previously blogged about it after I had read the book, which I love! Can you believe that there are religious groups boycotting the movie? They stand outside the theaters holding up signs that say "Da Vinci Code-Blasphemy!"
I mean, that would really make me feel uncomfortable walking into the theater with them there. They'd probably look at me and make me feel like an atheist or something.
To me, it's the entertainment factor that draws me to watch it and I have no doubt in my faith whatsoever. Plus, I really enjoy watching movies that Tom Hanks plays in. Regardless of the 'truth', it won't have any effect on whether or not I believe in God or how I feel about Jesus or Mary Magdelene.
Even my 14 year old daughter wants to watch it and we both share the same thoughts about it. I don't think this movie would brain wash us!!!
So, has anyone watched it? I've read critic reviews stating that the movie didn't capture the true meaning the book intended and that it wasn't suspenseful as the book, too.

I tried reading the book but stopped around Chapt 13. I've heard mixed reviews, but if you want to see it don't let other people make you feel uncomfortable -- not that you would :o)

I haven't seen it either, but plan on it when it comes out on DVD. I agree it's just fiction & I'm grounded enough in my faith, that some book or movie can't sway.

I loved seeing the pics of Gizmo...She's so cute! And you are the first person I have known to have a Long haired Chihuahua. Rocco is obsessed with me & I can't get out of his sight. I am constantly followed. LOL

elaine-yes, i read that tom hanks himself said it's pure 'fiction.'

keshi-my heart and faith is in God's hands.

karen-why did you stop? i couldn't put the darn book down!

crystal-i know how you feel, when i saw your pup, i was surprised. one night when gizmo ran out with me to get the pizza from the delivery guy, he said 'i have a long haired chihuahua too' and i totally freaked out. you hardly see them around. whenever i take gizmo out, i get so many people approaching me about her. i should take a picture of her parents. they are hella cute! her mom is super fluffy just like a pomeranian. her dad is short haired.

Yes! I would be catching it and my 12-year girl would not be able too coz it's rated NC18 here :(

Yep, going for the entertainment as well as the site as we visited the Lourve; Paris back in 2004 and bet it's gonna bring back fond memories :D

LUCKY SHIONGE!!!!! I wish I could go there, probably in my dreams! lol
As long as she's accompanied by a parent, she should be able to watch it with you...That's how it works here, don't know if it's just the ticket person or if it's the rule.

Hi cupcake,

Found your blog through Keshi's. Loved your profile. :)

I had read this book about three years ago, and have been reading a lot of other work on the subject by great researchers, scholars and authors. I have even watched a couple of documentaries on it from NGC.

Well, as for me it is all about being open to new ideas and questions. My faith is always coupled with broad mindedness.

Interestingly, I have decided not to watch the movie, because it does not seem to be faithful to the spirit of the book.

Cheers!

I'm actually waiting to see it, maybe after X-Men comes out and the crowds die down. I haven't heard the best reviews but its not gonna stop me from seeing it.

Hello Purple Cupcake.

I have indeed seen the movie. There were no protesters outside the movie theater.

I was disappointed in the movie, the book is much better.

My advice--wait for the DVD.
No need to weed through protesters for a movie.

Thanks for stopping by my blog (monkeyposh). I love your blog--SO CUTE!

Hey girl! Thanks for mentioning my blog to Shionge. I linked you both :)
I loved the book! Didn't get to watch the movie though because of my Singapore trip. I guess I'll just buy a dvd copy.

Hmmmm! I came here to just see yummy cupcakes and I get an interesting post about The Code. I have read the book, and it predecessor, and even though I have heard much negativity about the movie, I think I will still wander out and see it. The locations would be almost worth the viewing. Yummy Cupcakes, indeed!
Rock on!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and reading my thoughts on the movie. I enjoyed it but didn't have to wade through protesters -- that probably would have been daunting to me. I loved the book and feel that Ron Howard as the director tried to be as true to it as he could in the time allowed. I liked Tom Hanks in the movie and always think of his comment that the book is found in bookstores under "fiction."

It hasn't affected my faith, either. I don't feel that is expected of either the reader or the viewer.

I think Angels and Demons is even better.........From what I am hearing about this movie, I think I too will wait for the DVD.....Brain washing......I don't think so, I do understand the difference between fiction and fact.....And enjoy the thoughts from others
